A Coming Storm

"The storm arrived sooner than I expected..."
"The storm arrived sooner than I expected..."

The weathermen and forecasters had been predicting for days on end that a major winter storm was coming. It would impact a great deal of the nation. Sometimes the weathermen would change their forecast daily, even hourly, as the storm was moving across the country and changing.

That was true locally as the storm moved into my state. It doesn’t snow often in Arkansas, but those who were wise heeded the warnings.

I made menu plans and shopped and stocked up on groceries and food. We filled any needed prescriptions. My husband had the generator serviced and I bought firewood for the wood-burning fireplace, just in case we lost power. My husband even withdrew cash from the ATM as a precaution. And with two additional gas-operated fireplaces we felt prepared for the coming storm.

But while the forecast was regularly updated, I wasn’t quite ready for how early the storm moved into Little Rock on Thursday. When thick and heavy snow began to fall that afternoon, I was surprised it arrived earlier in the day than was forecasted. The storm came on fast and furious. The snow quickly coated the street, trees, yard, house, and everything in a blanket of white. I canceled any afternoon plans.

"The storm came on fast and furious..."
"The storm came on fast and furious..."

The snowstorm arrived sooner than I thought!

I wonder how many people were wise and prepared. I wonder how many others disregarded the news or simply didn’t pay attention and didn’t know. Or how many people presumed the storm would be mild, so they disregarded the warnings altogether.

Then I thought about the days we are living in…

Many preachers and even modern-day prophets warn people about the season and times we live in. Yet, some people completely ignore the signs of the times, God’s truth, and His forecasters warning people to be prepared. They don’t even bother to read God’s Word or be tuned in to the Spirit. Some people mock God, like in the days of Noah, and don’t believe! They are not ready for a much bigger coming storm. But then some wise people are heeding the words of the prophetic forecasters and are prepared. The wise have their hearts and lives ready and right with God to meet Him at any time or for His coming.

Which one are you? Just like the snowstorm, you’d be wise to prepare!

"The wise were prepared..."
"The wise were prepared..."

Beloved:

Heed the warnings of the godly preachers and My prophets on earth. There is a far bigger coming storm. And like the 10 virgins with their lamps, which group do you fall into? Are you ready or living foolishly? Is your heart and life full of the oil of My Spirit or are you a foolish follower? Always be ready for My coming or to meet Me. Always live with eternity in your mind.

“Therefore, you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Matthew 24:44)

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise...” (Matthew 25: 1-13)

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.” (2 Timothy 3:1)
