Lights Of Christmas

"Christmas lights remind us of the birth of Christ..."

As the holidays approach, slowly, lights are going up all across my city and indeed all across our world to celebrate the Christmas season. The lights are reminiscent of that first Christmas when a bright and unusual star hung in the heavens over Bethlehem illuminating the birth of Christ.

Israel and the world had long lain in the darkness of sin, bondage, slavery, and captivity. And for generations, God’s Word and His prophets had declared that a Savior would come as a promise to the Jewish nation. And now in the fullness of time, the fulfillment of scripture occurred with the birth of Christ. Born in Bethlehem, housed in a manger outside the city, a heavenly light illuminated His birth.

"The star guided the way..."

Those who had eyes to see and those who observed the heavenly signs, like the shepherds and the wise men, they followed the bright star to encounter the Light of the world that was born into mankind’s sin-fallen world. The Savior had come at last to dispel our darkness.

Today, we still seek Him. And once again, Christ wants to come afresh to light up your life with His Presence. Holiday lights are only illuminated in the darkness. And lights represent the beauty of Christ coming into our weary world and lives, lighting the way to hope and salvation anew.

As you observe beautiful holiday lights strung on trees, decor, homes, neighborhoods, and businesses, may you be drawn afresh to the Light of Life this holiday season.

"Be drawn to the Light of Christ..."

Beloved:

I have not left you alone in the bleakness of your suffering or the confusion life brings you. Draw near to Me. Seek the Light of My Son and He will shine the answers to your path or bring light to your troubling darkness.

“And they asked, ‘Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.” (Matthew 2:2)

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” (Psalms 19:1)
